Intranets

In our experience, under-performing intranets fall into one of two types. Clients commonly describe them this way:

  1. "Nobody uses the intranet except as a way to get to the Internet. The content and functionality isn't useful, relevant or up-to-date."
  2. "Our intranet is out of control and nobody can find anything. There are now hundreds of micro-sites, each different and the whole thing is a confusing mess."

We respond to these problems by addressing the basics:

  • Figure out the core business needs that the intranet can and should support
  • Prioritise new processes and existing ways of working that the intranet can support
  • Identify key applications and engaging content that will regularly draw users to the site
  • Work closely with users to design a site that incorporates these elements and that is simple, valuable and delightful to use.
